Directives & settings

Project settings

Configure selector scope and generated importance; define mode activation with @mode.

@settings

Place @settings at the top level of an entry stylesheet. These settings change how Master CSS emits rules; they do not set the browser’s root font size or add a DOM container.

CSS
@settings {  scope: #app;  important: off;}
scope
Defaultnot set

Optional root selector prepended to generated selectors. It does not create that element.

important
Defaultoff

Use on to add !important to generated declarations. This changes their cascade priority.

The block above sets scope: #app; all other shown values match the engine defaults. Token values and native CSS declarations remain distinct from these compiler settings. root-size, default-mode, mode-trigger, and base-unit are removed. Use explicit queries, @mode activation, and native CSS units. Native resolution x remains valid.

For token authoring, see Theme Tokens. For mode behavior, see Variables and Modes.
